Hope was a Pit bull that we rescued. The owner had used motor oil on her to get rid of fleas and Mange (a skin disease dogs can contract). The motor oil poisoned her and we were asked why we were spending so much money trying to save a beat up old pit bull. And there is only one word: HOPE!
We wish we could tell you that Hope's story had a happy ending, but unfortunately she succumbed to the poison. She was surrounded though by people that loved her for the short time that she was with us. We will miss you Hope, and will never stop trying to give HOPE to all the other dogs we rescue!
This is Sloan. She was dumped into the streets by her owner at a young age. The owner unfortunately left her collar on and this is what happens as she grew bigger with age.
Sloan's surgery to remove the collar did go well and she is with us at North Star Rescue recovering and getting healthy.
Dumping of dogs and puppies are an everyday thing here in Mississippi.
For example, these puppies were thrown into a bag and tossed on the side of the road. We were able to get the puppies fully recovered and healthy, and all of them are currently in the process of being adopted.
Incidents like this happen way to frequently down here and we have run into a number of occurrences with puppies that are only a few days old and are left in boxes in fields, next to businesses, and even tossed in dumpsters.
We are trying to save all that we can, but we cannot do it alone, WE need YOUR help!!
